Classical Literature
Narratives of the classical civilisation influence the organisation of society and thought, as well as the construction of behavioural models and shared values. In the practical case developed by CCMIJU, a teacher of literature talks about the great literary work of Don Quixote and its author, Miguel de Cervantes. She explains with details the gastronomy and most common dishes that appears in the book, but which are still being cooked today. Moreover, she describes the socio-economic situation of women in such society and, more specifically, the experiences of some of the female characters in the book, which are, in some way, the forerunners of today's women's rights and behaviour. Both the heritage promotion and the transmission of the identity form a single process which uses emotions, cultural features, significant factors and human creativity to show the image of a society. The figure of Don Quixote is associated with outstanding values such as universality, ingenuity, courage, romanticism, non-conformity, honesty and justice, all of which have been projected alongside the adventurous character of this personage in various formats over the years.
